Are you ready for an artful escape?  Join Dina as you create a unique and colorful Art Journal Folio.  You'll start with a Tim Holtz idea-ology blank folio.  You'll use gesso, paint, masks, and stencils to alter it using Dina's stencils and acrylic paints.  Then you'll create meaningful pages with paint, stamps, and stencils to go inside the folio.  You'll add quotes and imagery that make your folio explode with color and meaning.  Unique and expressive, this will be a day full of art techniques with a beautiful project as the end results.

Supplies to Bring:  Craft sheet or mat; scissors; water container to clean your brushes; baby wipes; paper towels; and paper plate or palette paper to use as a palette (or you can just use your craft sheet).  You may also want a small notebook and pencil or pen for taking notes.  All other materials and supplies will be provided.

"Art Journal Play Series:  A Cut Above"

Dina's "Art Journal Play" Workshops are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques.  The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages.  You'll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed media projects (canvases, book making, etc.)

Ready to make art that a cut above?  Come to this Workshop where you'll explore cuts and folds and pockets as a way to add variety and interest to your artwork.  You'll work with stamps, stencils, and acrylics to make unique journal pages.  You'll focus on bold colors and images, as well.

Supplies to Bring:  Art Journal (Dina recommends Ranger's Dylusions Creative Journal); craft sheet or mat; scissors; water container to clean your brushes; baby wipes; paper towels; paper plate or palette paper to use as a palette (or you can just use your craft sheet); and craft knife and cutting mat.  You may also want a small notebook and pencil or pen for taking notes.  All other materials and supplies will be provided.

"Multi-Surfaced Journal Exploration"

The new Media Journal is full of varied, interesting surfaces ~ burlap, canvas, kraft, and handmade watercolor paper.  Come to this Workshop to play and explore all the surfaces.  A journal is included in the Workshop cost.  You will stamp, stencil, paint, cut, print, tip in, tear, and have a great day of journaling, playing, and experimenting.

What's In Your Journal?

Yesterday was another fun day in the Workshop as everyone welcomed Rebecca Janousek and her beautiful Art Journaling to CraftFusion.  With paints galore, pens at the ready, and all sorts of other goodies ready to make their blank pages sparkle, everyone went to work.  When the Workshop finished, all of those blank pages had been transformed into nothing short of true works of art.  Here are a few behind the scenes . . .

We Have A New Artist Joining the Family!

It's been awhile since our last post, but we're returning with good news . . . Art Journaling returns to CraftFusion!  Our talented family is growing with the addition of another new artist and very talented instructor . . . Rebecca Janousek!  You'll be amazed at the wonderful and colorful art style Rebecca brings to the Calendar, and you'll want to be sure to save your space in her new Art Journaling Workshop.  Here's a short sneak peek about Rebecca and her art:

"I have been making art since I was in junior high school, scrapbooking for over ten years, and art journaling for about six years now.  I am a bit of a craft-a-holic.  Art has always been an escape for me and a way to say the things you can't always say.  I make everything from purses to journals to jewelry and altered art, as well as everything in between!  Art Journaling is my love and passion, and my work is generally known for it's bright pops of color and texture.  Color and texture fascinate me and I'm always experimenting!  I'm mostly self-taught and am always finding myself trying new media or finding new ways to use it.  Besides crafting, I love to read, go shopping, and spending time with family and time outdoors in the beautiful Arizona sun.  I'm legally blind in my left eye and have only twenty-five percent vision in my right due to a brain tumor that I had removed when I was twelve.  Because of this, I feel like my perspective on the world and the art world is a bit different than others . . . it's what makes me, me.  I also struggle from arthritis, but feel like our struggles have something to teach us, so no matter how tough things may be, there's a lesson to be learned . . . and maybe a painting or two!"

A Special Guest is in the Workshop Today!

It's been a long coming, but we're definitely counting our lucky stars today! Dina Wakley has joined us in our Workshop and we couldn't be more happy! With two fantastic 3-hour Art Journaling Workshops scheduled, everyone who'd reserved a space arrived early, ready and anxious to get to work and get their hands messy.

"Art Journal Play Series: Composition Basics"
Starting at an early 9:00am, the morning session kicked off the day with Dina as she shared the basics of art journaling with everyone in the group using her exciting techniques and tips.  At the end of the Workshop everyone had lots of pages in their journals they'll be able to use in all of their future papercrafting and mixed media adventures.  Everyone had a great time, made great journal pages, and left full of inspiration.

"Art Journal Play Series: Random by Design"
After a short break, Dina continued with her second session with another group of budding art journalists.  Eager to go to work, Dina was able to share her favorite methods for achieving expressive layers, as well as how to combine art techniques in creating interesting art.  Armed with paints, stencils, and stamps galore, everyone went to work, all the while having fun and sharing laughs with each other.
