STORE CLOSING . . .

It's been almost 7 years since we first opened the doors to CraftFusion.  Over those years, I've the opportunity to meet so many wonderful and talented people.  Some have even become fast friends.  Unfortunately, though, this past year has been an exceptionally hard one, both on a business and personal level, forcing me to make a very difficult decision.  And that's having to close CraftFusion.    Our final day of business was originally scheduled as Saturday, November 18th, but we've recently had to accelerate that schedule and are now looking at a close date closer to the first part of the month.

Because of the change in schedule, we've unfortunately had to cancel some of our Workshops for the end of October and mid-November.  We've made the changes to our Workshop Page and Calendar on the Website, and apologize to everyone for any inconvenience this may cause.

During these past 7 years, I've been so lucky, as well as blessed, to be able to do what I love most . . . sharing my passion of papercrafts and mixed media with you.  I've loved meeting and talking with all of you, sharing ideas, and helping you with questions about products and how-to's or addressing your concerns whenever you've felt you just couldn't go any further on your projects.  Each one of you has truly been an inspiration to me and I'll never be able to thank you enough for the experience.

“Mixed Media Junk Journals”

10:00am – 1:30pm ~ Cost: $55.00 (incl. beverages & snacks)

Come and play as you create a beautiful, unique mixed media junk journal with a custom canvas cover and fill it with an explosion of colorful, handmade collage paper notebooks!  You’ll create our own pages using an assortment of our favorite scrapbook paper for the covers and vintage/ledger/ grid/unique/recycled paper for the inside pages.  You can use the extra notebooks as inserts in your traveler’s notebooks/planners, perfect for your purse for list-making or in your art bag for art journaling on-the-go!  You’ll also learn a variety of techniques and explore different media to create your own, beautiful junk journals!  You’ll also explore how to create a mixed-media inspired art journal spread in your completed journals!    Nicole with have paints and brushes, oil pastels, stencils, stamps, sponge daubers, Gelli plates, rollers, spray inks, long-arm stapler, and a variety of recycled/vintage/ledger/grid paper for everyone to share, but if have your own, definitely bring it!

Supplies to Bring:  Craft sheet; 12″x9″ piece of canvas for your journal cover (gesso one side before Workshop, if possible); an assortment of your favorite 12″x12″ scrapbook papers for your notebook covers (bring as many as you’d like to make, but at least 4); paint pens (for writing and/or decorating your pages {Nicole recommends Sharpie water-based markers in an assortment of colors and sizes and Dylusions for detail work}); 1-yard elastic cord in your choice of color; about 18″ decorative ribbon or thick yarn; paper trimmer; scissors; corner rounder punch; baby wipes; awl; ruler; and bone folder.  Optional Supplies:  If you’d like, bring your favorite colors of spray inks, paints, or other types of paper to use to fill your journals.  All other supplies and materials will be supplied.

“3-D Mixed Media Collage Canvas”

2:00pm – 5:30pm ~ Cost: $55.00 (incl. beverages & snacks)

Join Nicole as you get creative and messy while making an original work of art in the process!  Nicole will show you how to create a beautiful mixed media background using a variety of her favorite supplies and techniques to emphasize and highlight your focal image.  She'll also show you how to create gorgeous, layered, colorful collage art paper that you will use to collage onto your 3-D shapes and make them jump off the canvas!  Nicole will have a variety of paints and spray inks, oil pastels, brushes, Gelli plates, rollers, adn recycled/vintage/ledge/grid paper, and patterned tissue paper for everyone to use and share, but if you'd like to bring your own, definitely do!

Supplies to Bring:  Craft sheet; two substrates (canvas, wood panel, and/or Gessoboard) {Nicole’s samples are 6"x12″ canvas & 8″x8″ Gessoboard}; two large wood or chipboard shapes that fit your substrates (i.e., angel, princess, bird, tree, heart, etc.; something that will be a focal image, but not take up the whole surface {it’s okay if there’s paint or images on them, you’ll be painting/collaging over them}); scissors; matte gel medium; sponge brush; baby wipes; X-acto knife; and self-healing cutting mat.  Optional Supplies:  If you’d like, bring any favorite colors of spray inks, paints, or papers for collaging.  All other supplies and materials will be supplied.

What's In Your Journal?

Yesterday was another fun day in the Workshop as everyone welcomed Rebecca Janousek and her beautiful Art Journaling to CraftFusion.  With paints galore, pens at the ready, and all sorts of other goodies ready to make their blank pages sparkle, everyone went to work.  When the Workshop finished, all of those blank pages had been transformed into nothing short of true works of art.  Here are a few behind the scenes . . .

We Have A New Artist Joining the Family!

It's been awhile since our last post, but we're returning with good news . . . Art Journaling returns to CraftFusion!  Our talented family is growing with the addition of another new artist and very talented instructor . . . Rebecca Janousek!  You'll be amazed at the wonderful and colorful art style Rebecca brings to the Calendar, and you'll want to be sure to save your space in her new Art Journaling Workshop.  Here's a short sneak peek about Rebecca and her art:

"I have been making art since I was in junior high school, scrapbooking for over ten years, and art journaling for about six years now.  I am a bit of a craft-a-holic.  Art has always been an escape for me and a way to say the things you can't always say.  I make everything from purses to journals to jewelry and altered art, as well as everything in between!  Art Journaling is my love and passion, and my work is generally known for it's bright pops of color and texture.  Color and texture fascinate me and I'm always experimenting!  I'm mostly self-taught and am always finding myself trying new media or finding new ways to use it.  Besides crafting, I love to read, go shopping, and spending time with family and time outdoors in the beautiful Arizona sun.  I'm legally blind in my left eye and have only twenty-five percent vision in my right due to a brain tumor that I had removed when I was twelve.  Because of this, I feel like my perspective on the world and the art world is a bit different than others . . . it's what makes me, me.  I also struggle from arthritis, but feel like our struggles have something to teach us, so no matter how tough things may be, there's a lesson to be learned . . . and maybe a painting or two!"
