Nicole Returns to the Workroom!

Spend a Fun Day in the
Workroom With Nicole Austin
for Two New & Exciting Workshops!
Saturday ~ October 28, 2017

“Mixed Media Junk Journals”
10:00am – 1:30pm ~ Cost: $55.00 (incl. beverages & snacks)

Come and play as you create a beautiful, unique mixed media junk journal with a custom canvas cover and fill it with an explosion of colorful, handmade collage paper notebooks!  You’ll create our own pages using an assortment of our favorite scrapbook paper for the covers and vintage/ledger/ grid/unique/recycled paper for the inside pages.  You can use the extra notebooks as inserts in your traveler’s notebooks/planners, perfect for your purse for list-making or in your art bag for art journaling on-the-go!  You’ll also learn a variety of techniques and explore different media to create your own, beautiful junk journals!  You’ll also explore how to create a mixed-media inspired art journal spread in your completed journals!    Nicole with have paints and brushes, oil pastels, stencils, stamps, sponge daubers, Gelli plates, rollers, spray inks, long-arm stapler, and a variety of recycled/vintage/ledger/grid paper for everyone to share, but if have your own, definitely bring it!
Supplies to Bring:  Craft sheet; 12″x9″ piece of canvas for your journal cover (gesso one side before Workshop, if possible); an assortment of your favorite 12″x12″ scrapbook papers for your notebook covers (bring as many as you’d like to make, but at least 4); paint pens (for writing and/or decorating your pages {Nicole recommends Sharpie water-based markers in an assortment of colors and sizes and Dylusions for detail work}); 1-yard elastic cord in your choice of color; about 18″ decorative ribbon or thick yarn; paper trimmer; scissors; corner rounder punch; baby wipes; awl; ruler; and bone folder.  Optional Supplies:  If you’d like, bring your favorite colors of spray inks, paints, or other types of paper to use to fill your journals.  All other supplies and materials will be supplied.

“3-D Mixed Media Collage Canvas”
2:00pm – 5:30pm ~ Cost: $55.00 (incl. beverages & snacks)

Join Nicole as you get creative and messy while making an original work of art in the process!  Nicole will show you how to create a beautiful mixed media background using a variety of her favorite supplies and techniques to emphasize and highlight your focal image.  She'll also show you how to create gorgeous, layered, colorful collage art paper that you will use to collage onto your 3-D shapes and make them jump off the canvas!  Nicole will have a variety of paints and spray inks, oil pastels, brushes, Gelli plates, rollers, adn recycled/vintage/ledge/grid paper, and patterned tissue paper for everyone to use and share, but if you'd like to bring your own, definitely do!

Supplies to Bring:  Craft sheet; two substrates (canvas, wood panel, and/or Gessoboard) {Nicole’s samples are 6"x12″ canvas & 8″x8″ Gessoboard}; two large wood or chipboard shapes that fit your substrates (i.e., angel, princess, bird, tree, heart, etc.; something that will be a focal image, but not take up the whole surface {it’s okay if there’s paint or images on them, you’ll be painting/collaging over them}); scissors; matte gel medium; sponge brush; baby wipes; X-acto knife; and self-healing cutting mat.  Optional Supplies:  If you’d like, bring any favorite colors of spray inks, paints, or papers for collaging.  All other supplies and materials will be supplied.
